After the devastating string of storms smacked the south yesterday, the death toll is currently at 178 and rising. With hundreds of residents homeless, President Obama has declared a state of emergency in Alabama. Clearly, now is the time to help. Here are some quick and easy ways to lend a hand in Alabama to help ensure that everyone has food on their plates in the days ahead.
1. Donate to the Birmingham chapter of the Red Cross for Disaster Relief. Or text the word “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
2. Donate to the West Alabama Food Bank. Or text the word “FOOD” to 27722 to make a $10 donation.
3. If you’re living in the Tuscaloosa area, please help conserve water by restricting your usage through Friday as requested by Mayor Maddox.
