Mother's Day Brings Most Customers to Restaurants

April 28, 2011

According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother's Day is the most popular day for people to eat out at restaurants. The association predicts that a staggering 75 million people will eat out this Mother's Day (which is Sunday, May 8).

A majority of those people will eat dinner at the restaurant. Fifty eight percent of people surveyed said they planned to eat dinner at a restaurant, compared to 32 percent for lunch, 24 percent for brunch, and 10 percent for breakfast. A full one in five of those people will eat out more than once on Mother's Day.

The survey found that 51 percent of mothers enjoyed eating out because it gave them a break from doing the cooking. Twenty seven percent of mothers said they enjoyed eating out because it allowed them to socialize with friends.

Do you go somewhere special on Mother's Day? What are your family traditions?
