Gardening provides access ready to healthy foods, improves soil quality and is great exercise. All really great steps in the right direction to changing America's relationship to food. So as part of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative, she is challenging every community to start their own "People's Garden."
The Let's Move site has tons of resources to help you get started. There's even a network of master gardeners, in every state, that has volunteered to come out and show you how to get growing. Check out the Let's Move checklist that walks you through getting a garden committee kicked off, testing soil safety, and the garden design process.
For even more information, visit the USDA's Community Gardening Start Up Guide.
It's never been easier to get your hands dirty!
