The bar standby of a shot of whisky and a beer chaser has gotten even more simple: The Dominion Post has found the world's first known whisky beer. New Zealand brewers Sam Possenniskie and Stu McKinlay of the Yeastie Boys brewery have produced Rex Attitude, a golden ale made from 100% peat-smoked Scottish distilling malt. The beer has been "compared to bacon, medicine, coal tar and smoked kippers." The brewers admit that the strong flavors might not be for everyone, but intend to keep it as a permanent part of the Yeastie Boys lineup. Photo by Andrew Gorrie
