Nets Will Make Farmers Market Safer

Farmers Market Fare

The Santa Monica farmers market will soon have highway style barricades and heavy duty nets in place, to protect  shoppers. This is in response to the 2003 accident, where an 86 yr old man accidentally stepped on the gas thinking it was the brake. He killed 10 and injured dozens of others.

The cost of such protection for just this one market alone, is over $215,000 . The nets and equipment will need to be put in place and removed twice a week, including transportation to and from the market.
