Rapper Shares Name With World's Spiciest Beer

May 4, 2011

Twisted Pine Brewery has created a limited-edition Ghost Face Killah beer, which shares its name with the legendary rapper of the Wu-Tang Clan. Just 100 cases of the beer will be made and released on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo). The beer consists of six hot peppers: Anaheim, Fresno, Jalapeno, Serrano, Habanero and Bhut Jolokia (the Ghost Pepper). Considered one of the hottest peppers in the world, the Bhut Jolokia has been used to create chemical warfare agents in the past. Served in just 4 oz. glasses because of how much heat the beer packs, Twisted Pine hopes the beer will be named the spiciest in the world. To make it, the head brewer left the chilis to soak in the beer for a couple of weeks. As a result he created "a beer that made my lips and mouth burn and seared the back of my throat for a good two hours," according to one man who tried it. Alas, the rapper chose not to get involved with the beer that shares his name: "We tried to get in touch with him, but we didn't receive a call back,"  GM Jody Valenta told the Los Angeles Times. "We wanted to contact Ghostface to set up a partnership with him." Apparently both the rapper and the beer actually take their names from a 1979 movie— "Mystery of Chessboxing." Check out the label that the brewery released to promote their creation.
