Big Brother's Watching The Lunchroom: Nanny State Gone Wild?

May 12, 2011

Next time you're on the couch shame-eating a package of cookies while polishing off a whole bottle of Two Buck Chuck, just thank your lucky starts the eye in the sky isn't tallying every calorie-laden bite. A new pilot program in San Antonio schools aimed at curbing childhood obesity will take before-and-after pictures of kids' lunch trays to monitor their food intake.

The cameras can take those before and after pictures and collect data that tells the school how many calories and nutrients were in each meal.

Is this really a sensible solution? Or just another way for Big Brother to monitor our activities? Anyone else wish there was this much technology available in science classrooms?
