Celebrity chef and Top Chef finalist Bryan Voltaggio is collaborating with craft brewery Flying Dog to create his signature beer. The brew, called Backyard Ale, was made to go with barbecues and smoked foods. The label will feature a drawing of Voltaggio by longtime Flying Dog contributor Ralph Steadman. According to the Frederick News Post, brewmaster Matt Brophy said that the beer "was brewed with the sole intention that it would be paired with food" and that he doesn't "think that there's anybody else, or any other brewery, that's really taken quite that leap." The beer will be available exclusively at Voltaggio's restaurant Volt until June 3rd, and may be available in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington after that.
