Dan Aykroyd and his fellow Crystal Head Vodka founder John Alexander experienced a costly setback this month when over 21,000 bottles of the skull-packaged spirit were stolen from a California storage facility. The heist is estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Aykroyd told TMZ that he is "distressed and elated" about the Crystal Head Vodka stolen bottles. "My partners and I are sorry to lose this much vodka to theft and do not condone criminal activity in any fashion, but we are happy that some consumers will be afforded the opportunity of tasting it at significantly lower than retail price."

Crystal Head Vodka recently won a Double Gold at the 2011 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. TMZ reports that the Los Angeles Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are investigating the theft.
