Due to the rising food costs across the world, savvy young entrepreneurs in India are hanging up their ties in favor of overalls. Gaurav Sahai gave up a cushy job at Hewlett Packard in the states to labor at a seven acre farm in the Mohali district. He is learning fast, and last month he sold 1,200 kilos of veggies. His next mission is to incorporate herbs and spices.
In West Bengal, Raja Adhikary, skipped out on working for the family business, and is now running a 100-acre tea plantation. Another young woman, Yogita Mehra, quit her job with Teri an energy resource institute. "It is great learning. I want to remain far away from the stress of urban life"
Perhaps, this trend will spread across the world, as food becomes less accessible and more costly.
