That is just one of the alarming claims in the upcoming documentary, Sushi: The Global Catch. The trailer looks at one fish market in Japan that sells more than $18 million worth of fish daily. Once caught, the fish are sent all over the world for consumption. In parts of New York, fresh fish sells for more than $50 a pound. Consumption of sushi has increased in places like Brazil and Russia. With demand increasing across the world, serious issues about sustainability have been raised. Unless we change our habits, we may run out of freshly caught fish.
This is an important movie. Check out the documentary above.
