Large fast-casual pioneer Chipotle Mexican Grill has been experimenting with a new meat protein: chicken chorizo. If the chain opts to offer the meat nationally, it would be Chipotle's first new protein in years.
According to a sign, the chorizo has "naturally raised pork and chicken sausage with herbs and spices." The sausage is being offered in all but four New York locations of the restaurant. Management plans to offer the chorizo in Denver next.
There are more than 1,000 Chipotle locations nationally. The chain has been dogged with allegations of hiring illegal immigrant labor in recent months.
What do you think of Chipotle offering chicken chorizo? Why do you think they didn't use pork alone?
