Mindy Kaling is not a fan of foodies. Yesterday, the actress, who plays Kelly Kapoor on The Office, posted a rant on Twitter in which she wished foodies would become "fooders," or food lovers who can dial down their obsession when it's time to order. Here are screenshots of her tweets:
Mindy Kaling is the latest member of the growing anti-foodie moviement. A CNN Eatocracy piece earlier this year discussed how chefs and food writers alike hate foodies. Shortly thereafter, The Atlantic's B.R. Myers posted the polarizing article "The Moral Crusade Against Foodies," a five-page evisceration of foodie culture and the obsessiveness and "littleness of soul" it requires. Do you hate foodies as much as Kaling and others in the anti-foodie movement do?

I honestly never liked the word "foodie". But I love food! I love eating it, buying it, talking about it, taking pictures of it, and dreaming about it!

Really, a crusade a movement over a word?? Seems like these folks have way too much time and "hate" is such a strong word. I 'hate' things like bigotry, hypocrisy and exploitation of children, but to say " I hate 'foodies' " with such comments as 'littleness of soul' - really???
