Sunday Baking: Pretzels

We often think of pretzels as something you buy at a fair or that come in a bag from the supermarket.  Pretzels are a fun thing to make, especially with kids.  With one dough recipe you can mix and match toppings, go savory or sweet.  To make everything pretzels, sprinkle poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion flakes, and garlic powder.  For sweet pretzels, cinnamon and sugar is a classic topping.  Don't forget the dipping sauces!  I like spicy cheese sauce or Nutella.

Soft Pretzels

Ingredients:

1 packet Active dry yeast

1 cup Warm water

2 ½ to 3 cups all purpose flour

2 tablespoons Salad oil

1 tablespoon Sugar

6 tablespoons Baking soda in 6 cups water

Coarse salt
