If you will be dining in Buenos Aires, Argentina, you will have to bring your own salt shaker.
On average Argentineans consume 13 grams daily, far more than the WHO's recommendation of 5 grams. As a result, nearly 25% of the population in Buenos Aires is affected by high blood pressure. With these facts in mind, the health department has reached an agreement with the hotel and restaurant federation to remove salt shakers from the tables.
The government has also signed an agreement with the local breadmakers federation to reduce the amount of sodium in bread by 40%.
What do you think? Should the government remove the temptation of adding more salt to your meal?
