Fried rice is a perfect weeknight dinner. If you make it at home, it lets you clean out the fridge to make a quick and tasty meal at the end of a long day. If you order takeout, well, what could be easier? But the comfort and ease deserve some props, so try dressing fried rice up with a good drink.
Beer
Beer and fried rice may seem like a bachelor pad staple, but it's a great treat for a night in. Look for a crisp and clean pilsner to help cut through the richness of the dish, or a nutty brown ale to amp the umami-rich flavors.
Grüner Veltliner
Mostly found in Austria, Grüner Veltliner has enough acidity to balance any spice in your fried rice, while the white pepper nose and broad palate can more than stand up to any animal protein you decide to throw in.
Negroamaro
This wine from the south of Italy is a great choice for red wine lovers. Negroamaro's moderate tannins won't clash with more oily or spicy fried rice, and the pleasant red berry fruit will temper the heat.
