5 Food Tips for Sporty Dads

Does your Dad tear up the golf course, baseball diamond, and running trails every weekend? Will you Father's Day celebration include a pickup game in the front driveway? Sporty Dads need special food loving so they can fuel up right. Here are 5 food tips for the sporty Dads in your life straight from the American Dietetic Association

1. Three to four hours before a sporting event or tough workout, eat a balanced meal. 

2. Eat a piece of fruit 30 to 60 minutes before a game or strenuous workout. 

3. Drink at least 16 ounces of water two hours before a game or workout. 

4. 15 minutes before a game, drink another 8 ounces of water. 

5. After the game, eat a snack with protein and carbohydrates to help repair muscles and replenish energy, like peanut butter, low-fat chocolate milk or yogurt with frozen fruit.
