Celebrate Sir Paul McCartney's Birthday by Supporting Meatless Monday

June 18, 2011

It's Sir Paul McCartney's birthday today, and to celebrate, the legendary musician is imploring his fans to support Meat-Free Monday by adopting the practice in their own homes, thereby reducing climate change. McCartney has been a vocal supporter of Meat-Free Monday since 2009; the photo that accompanies this post is from a print campaign he did with PETA that year.

"Having one designated meat free day a week is actually a meaningful change that everyone can make, that goes to the heart of several important political, environmental and ethical issues all at once," McCartney said in a statement on the PETA website.

PETA has posted a pledge on its website; if you'd like to sign up to support Meat-Free Monday in honor of Sir Paul McCartney's birthday, click here.
