Largest Dairy Queen in the World

June 18, 2011

Popular fast food chain Dairy Queen continues an aggressive expansion plan. They have opened the world's largest Dairy Queen in a location you might not expect: Saudi Arabia.

That's right, the Middle East is the latest area of the world the chain hopes to expand into. The first three stores are now open in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, giving the chain branches in 16 countries outside of Canada and the United States. The world's largest can accommodate 240 customers and is 7,500 square feet. It is also the only two-floor Dairy Queen in the world.

Assuming all goes well, Dairy Queen plans to open 32 stores throughout Saudi Arabia by the end of 2015. There are now 841 locations of the restaurant outside of the United States and Canada, with stores in Bahrain, Oman and Qatar among other countries.

What do you think of Dairy Queen moving into the Middle East? Should most fast food companies be following their lead?
