Junk Food Makes Your Brain Hurt

June 23, 2011

A University of Washington study found that eating junk food may actually injure your brain. Processed, fatty foods where shown to inhibit the brain's ability to control appetite. It seems that the more you eat junk food, the hungrier you become. The brain cells which control appetite get destroyed and it turns into a vicious cycle.

As a nutritionist, I want to chime in that the food in the study was refined and considered junk food. Good fats, such as avocado, coconut, nuts, seeds, and butter are whole foods, and they support optimal health.
