What Does Fat Taste Like? Thin People Know Best

June 25, 2011

Researchers say a series of studies conclude that fats in foods have a distinct flavor and the more sensitive you are to tasting fats in your food, the more likely you are to be thin. The bummer is, it's all genetic. And if you happen to be one of the people with the genetic variant that keeps you from tasting fat, you're more likely to subconsciously crave fat, eat more of it, and gain weight.

So some people are more sensitive to the taste of fat in ice cream and creamy salad dressings, for example.

But what does fat taste like? Can you describe the taste of fat? We'd love to know your thoughts!
