The red, white, and blueberry burger by Brooks Walker won the Los Angeles Times first Battle of the Burgers. Contestants submitted their recipes, readers picked their favorites and then the test kitchen got to work, taste testing the finalists.
Walker is a dedicated burger maker, cooking everything himself including the buns. His red, white, and blueberry burger is slathered in blueberry barbecue sauce, topped with fried onions and blue cheese, and wrapped up in a brown sugar bun.
A burger is an American icon in and of itself but one that includes our national colors raises the bar, and just in time for 4th of July weekend. If you are looking for something different to make for this year's 4th of July barbecue, you might want to try this burger. For the recipe for this burger, click here.
