Governor Dave Heineman has declared Funk, Nebraska, the Cupcake Capital of Nebraska.
The town of Funk, with little more than 200 residents, is taking registrations for Funk's Festival of Cupcakes. The bakers will compete in the professional, amateur and talented kids categories.
Proceeds from donations and the cupcake auction will go towards a new heating system a the local community center, with a portion also going to help recent victims of tornado and flood damage.
