Doing morning chores, I always end up carrying edible things back to the house. Since I only have two hands, the easiest way to manage all the eggs from the hens and whatever is ready in the garden, is to wear an apron. If you want to get technical about it, this is referred to as a gathering apron.
I have made many aprons over the years, mainly because the ones that are available are more for the kitchy-ness, and not for practical use as an apron. Also, at 6 ft tall, it is difficult to find an apron that fits well enough to be useful.
If you are intrigued by the idea of having this useful garment, why not make your own? There are plenty of places online to find directions. Here are a couple of tutorials and patterns that may help.

From the lovely blog; On Just A Couple Acres, this is such a pretty example of an apron that is cute and functional.
The Gathering Apron
Yet another version, and beautifully designed in its simplicity, this one from The Cottage at Frog Creek, is inspirational.
Just not into sewing one yourself, find plenty of readymade gathering aprons at Etsy.
