I can't get enough of the Threadcakes competition, and this "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" cake is the latest lovely entry that I've come across. The cake, which was baked by Rosanna Hall for a friend's 20th birthday party, features a retro-inspired femme fatale shooting what looks like a Tommy gun as she says, "It's not you, it's me."
The comic book-inspired cake is a chocolate sponge cake filled and covered with chocolate orange butter cream. Hall cut the shapes on the cake out of rolled-out icing before painting them with gel food coloring; she says the process took her about six hours from start to finish.
