This Crayfish Crush cake by Annie Combs depicts the forbidden love between a crayfish and a Swiss army knife. Combs baked the artistic confection for the Threadcakes competition, adding to the many outstanding entries seen thus far.
Combs says that it took her four days to complete the Crayfish Crush cake using vanilla cake mix, buttercream icing and fondant; she also used royal icing as a "glue." After photographing the cake for the competition, she shared it with her marathon-training friends, reporting that, even after four days, the cake remained moist and delicious.
