The Baird/Ishii/Stone Japanese Green Tea IPA, a brew infused with Sencha whole leaf green tea, is the latest product on the market whose sales will benefit Japanese earthquake-relief efforts. The beer was produced by Toshi Ishii of Guam's Ishii Brewing Company, Stone Brewing Co. brewmaster Mitch Steele and Bryan Baird of Japan's Baird Brewing Company.
The India pale ale is also made with Soraci Ace hops and Aramis hops from Alsace; it packs a 9.2 percent abv and was produced in a limited run of 2,966 cases. All proceeds from the Baird/Ishii/Stone Japanese Green Tea IPA will go to the Japanese Red Cross society. The trio hopes to raise at least $50,000.
