When I lived in a cabin without electricity, I used to make biscuits in my wood cookstove.
Never again have I been able to cook quite as well as I did during that period of time. It may have had something to do with how hungry I became, cutting and splitting and carrying and stacking all the wood, to heat that stove!
These buttermilk biscuits are tender and light. They cook well in a Dutch oven, which if you do a lot of camping, is a must have. Sweeten them up by spreading with honey, syrup, jam, or butter and cinnamon and sugar. I also use any extra to make sandwiches for the kids to eat while we are out in the wilderness. Enjoy!
