
A new study from the British Journal of Nutrition, found that grass-fed meat is actually beneficial for heart health rather than being the cause of heart troubles. The widely accepted, "red meat is bad for your heart" is more accurate when referring to cows fed an inflammation-causing diet full of grains.
"Healthy consumers who ate the grass-finished meat for only four weeks showed significant increases in blood levels of omega-3s compared with those eating grain-finished red meat."
The study used meat that was only grass-finished in the last six weeks, and it will be interesting to see some research on 100% grass-fed beef. Cows are genetically designed to run on grass, so it makes sense that they would be healthier and more nutrient-dense if they live on the fuel that they are meant to,
