We all recognize the orange packaging of the Hawaiian sweet rolls that you buy from the grocery store. We bring them to outdoor barbecues and picnics or may even pick up a package for Thanksgiving dinner. As I often like to do, I wanted to make the homemade version of this Hawaiian bread. This recipe turns out a sweet bread that has a buttery yellow dough rich with flavor (the specialty ingredient is pineapple juice). I like to nestle bbq pork between two slices for an easy but delicious sandwich. If you bake this bread, be prepared for a crowd because it will be eaten in minutes.
Ingredients:
7 cups flour, unbleached
½ cup butter
1 cup pineapple juice at room temperature
3 eggs
¾ cup mashed potato flakes
⅔ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 env. active dry yeast
1 cup milk
½ cup water
