Is L.A. The New Foodie City?

August 6, 2011

According to Saveur' magazine's editor-in-chief James Oseland, the answer is yes.  Oseland says "L.A. really is the food city of the moment."  The city has redefined it's culinary scene with innovations like "pop-up" restaurants and gourmet food trucks.

Famous French restaurant chef Ludo Lefebvre tours with his restaurant Ludo Bites.  Essentially, the chef rents out different kitchens throughout Los Angeles area and his customers follow. He has changed the face of restaurants by making the focus more about the food than about the ambiance.

Another L.A. food trail blaizer is Roy Choi who started the Kogi Korean BBQ.  He took the classic taco truck and turned it into gourmet fusion food.  His Korean tacos have been imitated and duplicated.  Now the food truck scene is bigger than ever.  Food trucks of all food themes are sprouting all around the city.

These portable restaurants and "off the cuff" chefs are beginning to define the L.A. food scene which will continue to push the limits.  To read the full article click here.
