The Slow Food 5$ Challenge

August 17, 2011

Slow Food USA is asking everyone to take back the "value meal" on September 17th. Get with your family and friends for the 5$ Challenge.

The idea is to host or attend a potluck, BBQ, or picnic, where everyone participates in making a community meal that costs no more than 5$ per person. Slow Food is hoping to illustrate that real food does not have to cost more than fast food.

To take the official pledge you can sign up here, and to take it to the next level you can make your event public. If you can't host one, then you can check for meals in your region.

I love this idea. We do food days at work every once in a while. I'll take this to the group.
