
"There's nothing patriotic or good about diabetes or gout," said Anthony Bourdain in a recent appearance on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann." The "No Reservations" host discussed America's skyrocketing rates of obesity and overweight with Olbermann, suggesting that instead of tasking the government with instituting fat taxes or other interferences, we should collectively couch healthy lifestyles as a matter of military readiness and patriotism.
"This is the one area where Ted Nugent and I agree," mused Bourdain, noting the importance of raising a proper military has in terms of national security. "We're not going to win [the obesity problem] with the facts. We've been publishing dietary information. If anything, we seem to be polarizing it into a red state/blue state issue, a rich/poor issue, which is all wrong, wrong, wrong." See the whole appearance below:
