Every year, the American Farmland Trust holds a contest that allows people to vote for their favorite farmers' markets. The contest raises awareness about the importance of supporting local farms and protecting the land where food is grown.
You have until August 31 to cast your vote, so time is running out. You can cast a vote for however many farmers' markets you want, but can vote for each one just once. The winning market receives a supply of tote bags, an article on Epicurious and other prizes as well. The contest is divided into four categories: boutique (15 or fewer vendors), small (16-30 vendors), medium (31-55 vendors) and large (55+ vendors).
So take a moment and support your local farmers' market!
