Under a new Texas law, a person can now pay a fee to shoot feral hogs or coyotes from a helicopter (or other types of aircrafts) in that state. The law is in response to an exploding population of the feral pigs in the state. There are now an estimated 2 million of them in Texas. The animals can "cause millions of dollars worth of damage to agriculture, private property and native wildlife."
In 2010, there were "14,811 feral hogs from aircraft."
What do you think of the new law?

Coyotes are also ok to shoot from a helicopter? So you can shoot a potential predator of the feral hog, as well. That really doesn't make sense.

... I understand overpopulating species can be hazardous to other native species etc. But is this seriously the best they could come up with? Turning exces animals in potential for wasting time rather than eating them or feeding them to some1/something else?

I agree. There is a better way, just not an easier one.
