Fans of Marshmallow Fluff will be delighted to know that there's a standalone festival dedicated to the stuff in Somerville, Mass. called "What the Fluff? A Tribute to Union Square Invention." The festival celebrates Archibald Query, who invented the spread that would become Marshmallow Fluff in 1917.
This year's What the Fluff? festival will take place on Sept. 24, 2011 between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. This year, former NASA astronaut Rick Linnehan, songwriter Allee Willis and artist (and "Brady Bunch" actor) Susan Olsen will appear at the show. Olsen's piece "Gothic Fluff" appears at the top of this post.
The Marshmallow Fluff festival will also feature a cooking contest, musical performances, marshmallow-themed games and plenty of fluff-filled fare. Tickets are available via a contribution to the festival's fundraising efforts.
