
With state fair season in full swing, we've seen our fair share of fried food; the Charles Phoenix Test Kitchen adds to that lengthy list with this fried cereal recipe. (Minor note: The cereal is actually sauteed in butter, not deep-fried.) Charles Phoenix recommends a blend of five or more flavors; he uses Apple Jacks, Cap'n Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Fruit Loops, Honeycombs, Lucky Charms and Trix for his concoction.
For those who want to kick things up a notch, Phoenix recommends replacing the butter with bacon fat. For party-sized bowls, he advises sauteeing each cereal separately and then mixing them together in the bowl afterward. See the full recipe below:
