Though the 10th anniversary of 9/11 is now behind us, Marcus Samuelsson's Food Republic has begun a series of stories from famous chefs that chronicle their memories from that horrible day 10 years ago. The series of articles, entitled "9/11 Remembered," features famous chefs like Didier Elena, Drew Nieporent, Jon Shook and Samuelsson.
Even though he was in Australia on 9/11, Samuelsson offers one of the more moving accounts. He was cooking in the Windows on the World restaurant, on the top of the World Trade Center, just the week before the attacks.
"Well I think as an immigrant, as a lucky immigrant coming from Sweden, I questioned hard is it worth it living here? I came to the conclusion that I’m staying. This is not gonna beat me. It made me more patriotic for America, more patriotic for New York," Samuelsson said in his interview.
