September 15, 2011

Today, September 15, marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month. In honor of this, I will be posting a Hispanic inspired recipe each day. If you are a lover of bloody Marys and beer, this is the cocktail for you. Tomato juice is mixed with spices and lime and then topped of with a light beer (I like Corona). This is a great drink to serve for brunch or with any Mexican dish.
Ingredients:
1 light beer
2 small limes juiced (or 1 large) and extra for glass rim
1/2 tsp Worcester sauce
Hot sauce, to taste
pinch black pepper
ground chile pepper, to taste
salt, to taste
4 oz. tomato juice
Directions:
Mix some salt and ground chile powder on a plate. Using a 1/2 lime, rim the glass all around until well coated with the lime juice. Turn the glass upside down and cover the rim with the chile salt mixture. Turn right side up and add the ice cubes. Pour the juice from the 2 limes into the glass, add the Worcester sauce, Tabasco, black pepper, ground chile powder, salt and tomato juice. Stir until all ingredients are well combined then pour in the beer, mix and taste. Adjust anything if necessary.
