Even in the midst of the worst recession in more than a generation, Americans still like eating out. A "Dining Survey" by Living Social found that the average American eats out for 4.8 meals a week.
Lunch is the preferred meal for eating out with customers consuming 2.6 of their meals at restaurants each week. For dinner the number is 1.4 meals and people eat out for .8 breakfasts a week.
A full 45 percent of respondents describe themselves as "meat lovers." By comparison, just 5 percent of those surveyed described themselves as "vegetarian or vegan." 19 percent of people described themselves as "Fast Food Junkies."
Among the different types of cuisine, the most popular are Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Pizza.
