Artist Amelia Harnas is behind these inventive wine stain portraits, which are made of repeated wine stains, a wax resist and split-stitch embroidery. Harnas explains, "The first stains are made with a $10 bottle of French Cahors, but subsequent stains will feature Finger Lakes reds chosen for deep color and lowest residual sugars."
The simple methods Harnas uses to make her wine stain portraits make the final product especially compelling. Unfortunately, I don't think I have the knack to replicate her art on my wine-stained shirts.
