Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders is closing down her vegan restaurant, VegiTerranean.
VegiTerranean opened back in 2007 in Ohio and served as a vegan bakery, coffee house, bar, and restaurant. Hynde made a personal note on the restaurant's website saying that she and the staff did all they could to keep VegiTerranean open, but with the current economy, it was just impossible.
“It is with great regret that The VegiTerranean in downtown Akron has closed its doors for the last time. This has been a labor of love for me for the last four years," Hynde said. "We tried everything we could to keep the restaurant going but unfortunately due to the current economic climate this has not been possible. I’d like to thank everybody who helped me try to fulfill my dream. I discovered that vegan cuisine in Ohio has become more appreciated than I imagined.”
