Foreign students who signed up for a summer work and travel program got duped out of six grand and ended up doing drudge work in a Hershey's candy factory.
The students thought that they were heading to the States for a summer of making friends, seeing the sights, and having a job to pay for the adventure. Instead, they ended up isolated with grueling night shifts in a factory, lifting heavy boxes, and incurring unexpected living costs.
The kids complained to the state department, but their issues were largely ignored.
Instead of supporting these types of unethical companies, buy candy from smaller manufacturers who use quality ingredients, or better yet, make your own.
