Perhaps looking to cash in on the rise of craft beer, beverage giant Anheuser-Busch InBev has unveiled plans for a new beer called Bud Light Platinum that will go on sale in January 2012. The new product will have 6 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) and 137 calories. Bud Light is 4.2 percent ABV and has 110 calories, while Budweiser has 5 percent ABV and 145 calories.
North American beer sales fell 3.2 percent for Anheuser-Busch during the past quarter. Beer sales by volume have fallen by 1 percent overall, but the craft beer market ha expanded 11 percent.
