Forget coffee made from cat dung: panda feces tea is the world's priciest tea and the latest unusual beverage to turn excrement into a lucrative export. Wildlife expert and college lecturer An Yashi is currently producing the tea, and he claims that its nutritive properties are so abundant that the concoction could even cure cancer.
"Pandas have a very poor digestive system and only absorb about 30 percent of everything they eat," he explained. "That means their excrement is rich in fibers and nutrients. Just like green tea, bamboo contains an element that can prevent cancer, and enhance green tea's anti-cancer effects, if it is used as fertilizer for the tea."
Cancer-fighting properties or not, I'm not positive the mass market can forget the very unsavory nexus of panda feces tea. Would you ever try it?
