Today in Remarkable Food Feats

December 1, 2011

People are sometimes driven to do ridiculous and frankly bizarre things. Why do they decided to do these things? Even they can't tell you at the end. Nevertheless, two young men completed two completely different, but still completely ridiculous, food feats recently.

1. Colin Hagendorf (eaten pizza at every Manhattan pizzeria): Back in 2009, it seemed like a good idea for Colin Hagendorf to try a slice of pizza at every Manhattan pizzeria. He was outraged by the quality of "New York-style pizza" being sold out in Colorado. There are 362 pizzerias in Manhattan alone. He recently completed his goal. The only perfect score? Pizza Suprema. National chains and places that didn't make their own pies were excluded from consideration. To read about his adventure, see Slice Harvester

2. Lawrence Dai (has watched Julie and Julia every day for 365 days): Inspired by watching a movie about a woman blogging about recreating the recipes of a famous chef, Lawrence decided to push the limits of human sanity. He watched the 2009 movie Julie & Julia every single day for the last year. What has he gotten from this bizarre experiment? "I like to think that by doing this stupid, stupid thing, I have made some people happier. I have grown fond of my daily readers and I hope they’ve found my antics to be amusing this past year. I do it all for you guys. Really." Now Lawrence can return to actually being a student at Northwestern.
