Sidwell Friends, the elite DC private school with students like Sasha and Malia Obama, made quite an insensitive decision when selecting their school lunch menu for December 7. Today, which is of course the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, included a lot of Japanese and Asian themed foods on the school's menu. Take a look:
- -Asian Mushroom Soup
- -Oriental Noodle Salad
- -Classic Spinach Salad
- -Teriyaki Marinated Chicken Strips
- -Szechuan Tofu & Veggies
- -Garlic Roasted Edamame
- -Vegetable Fried Rice
- -Fortune Cookies
A school administrator called the menu "completely coincidental." Maybe, but how do you feel about the selection?

1. Oh, give it a rest!
2. Lumping all things Asian into this diatribe underscores the bigotry of it. The war was with Japan, not with the home of Szechuan tofu and veggies.

We are friends with Japan now so holding the hostility even from 2 generations ago is pretty lame. Time to let go and let the kids of THIS time live their lives. Not forgetting the past but also not forcing them hold grudges for events they weren't even around to experience.

Actually looks quite healthy to me.
