This ad for McDonald's aired briefly in Germany before Burger King successfully demanded the fast food chain pull it. Why? The ad depicts a young boy having his McDonald's lunch stolen many days in a row. Then, he hides it under a Burger King bag and suddenly the problem disappears.
According to AdAge, Burger KIng issued a statement about the incident. "McDonald's has broken the rules of comparative advertising by degrading the Burger King brand in the TV commercial 'Packaging.' McDonald's and Burger King have agreed that [the spot's] distribution and broadcast ... will be stopped."
Burger King might simply be upset they couldn't't come up with this ad for their German market. They do like giving out fries though.
