Jenny McCarthy's Son is on a Gluten-Free Diet

December 19, 2011

Jenny McCarthy believes that removing gluten and casein from the diet can help cure autism, and feels it has been a major factor for her own son, Evan Asher.

"We believe what helped Evan recover was starting a gluten-free, casein-free diet, vitamin supplementation, detox of metals, and antifungals for yeast overgrowth that plagued his intestines," McCarthy said. "Once Evan's neurological function was recovered through these medical treatments, speech therapy and applied behavior analysis helped him quickly learn the skills he could not learn while he was frozen in autism."

Uh, yeah. Right. Just after she went on for years about how vaccines caused her son's autism. We need to stop looking to this "expert" on autism for anything.

She's easy on the eyes, but a poison for the brain. Please stop giving her free publicity.

I have Celiac Disease, an auto immune disorder like Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is 100% triggered by exposure to gluten from wheat, rye or barley. Because I have to avoid gluten when I go eat with others the subject has come up with several friends who have been given the same advice for helping autistic children. In every case they reported dramatic improvement.

I buy this, where I never bought the vaccine explanation for autism completely. Since the 50's when I was born, our diet has changed in this country and we have OD'd on processed food. Shangri La, moderation in all things makes sense to me.

Cut the lady some slack. I can guarantee you it won't hurt and the direct evidence I've seen says it does help dramatically. This is an area of medicine where she really does know as much or more than 99% of the researchers in the field because she lives with it daily, as I do in my case.

Recently, I came across this article which talked about GF diet. So I started to dig out more information and found out that this might work for me as well. And yes, my body started to digest faster, I feel better and have no new health problems. So I think that Jenny is doing right thing for her son, even if he won´t be cured completely, it would help him anyway. With love Peter
