Winter is a time for beef stew and what better way then to make this comforting dish then in a crock pot. This recipe is so simple, you'll want to make it all the time. It requires little effort on your part, all you have to do is cut up the ingredients and brown the meat- the crock pot does the rest of the work. Beef stew will soon become your new favorite dish.
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons vegetable oil or bacon grease
4 mediums carrots, sliced
4 mediums white potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
1 medium onion, peeled and quartered
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups beef broth
1 cup water
Directions:
Pour broth and the 1 cup water over all. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
Half an hour before serving, remove bay leaves.
